The art scene around Downtown Los Angeles has experienced phenomenal growth, with galleries opening in big warehouses along the Los Angeles River (and not without some local controversy).

Occupying one gritty corner is Venus Over Los Angeles (a West Coast offshoot of Venus Over Manhattan), which held an opening for its current group show, “Concrete Island,” on March 11. Here’s what the artists, their friends and assorted hangers-on wore to the Saturday night gathering.
